Sell Your Stairlift on the Wirral — £300 Cash, Collected Through the Tunnel
A.C. Stairlifts buys used stairlifts right across the Wirral peninsula — Birkenhead to Hoylake, Heswall to Bromborough, Oxton to West Kirby. We are a family-run firm in Bootle paying £300 cash for a working Acorn or Brooks 130 T700 and higher for curved Stannah 260s (common in Wirral period homes). Our van runs the Kingsway tunnel multiple times a week — no travel charges, no “cross-river premium”. Fixed price on the phone, cash on the day.
What We Buy From Wirral
Wirral Pays Well For Two Models In Particular
Wirral is distinct for us. Affluent catchments like Oxton, Heswall, Caldy and West Kirby installed more Stannah 260 curved lifts than any other part of Merseyside — so Wirral supplies more of our curved reconditioning stock than anywhere else. The newer-build estates in Bromborough, Bebington and parts of Wallasey are strong sources of the current-generation T700 as well.
Top priority 1: Working Stannah 260 curved. £400–£800 depending on rail length and age. A photo of the chair and the full staircase (top to bottom) helps Chris quote accurately on the phone.
Top priority 2: Acorn / Brooks 130 T700. £300 cash working. See our Acorn T700 and Brooks T700 pages for identification.
Also buying across the Wirral: classic Acorn / Brooks 130 (£200), Stannah 420 (£100–£150), older models free removal.

How It Works
Three Steps From Call To Cash
Take a photo of the chair, and (for curved Stannahs) a photo of the full staircase from top to bottom — rail geometry affects price. For Acorn/Brooks, photograph the underside sticker. Text to 0151 314 4884.
Usually 3–5 days from the call. Our van is through the tunnel multiple times a week for installs already, so Wirral collections slot in easily.
Chris or an engineer arrives, confirms the chair, hands over cash, removes lift and rail. For curved lifts expect 30 minutes; straight lifts 15 minutes. Signed receipt.

Selling Your Wirral Stairlift — FAQs
Do you really collect from the Wirral without a travel charge?
Yes. Our van runs the Kingsway tunnel multiple times a week for Wirral installs anyway, so a Wirral collection is on the natural route rather than a special trip. No travel surcharge, no cross-river premium — same fixed cash prices as anywhere else we cover.
Why pay more for Stannah 260 curved lifts from the Wirral?
Supply and demand. Wirral’s period homes installed more Stannah 260 curved lifts than any other part of Merseyside, so Wirral is our main source for curved reconditioning stock. The carriage reconditions to near-new quality and we fit it to a brand-new custom rail at the next family’s home. That value chain lets us pay £400–£800 depending on rail length and condition.
How quickly can you collect from Heswall or West Kirby?
Standard turnaround is 3–5 working days. Same-day collection is possible for genuine urgency — bereavement, house completion, hospital discharge. Heswall, West Kirby and the farther Wirral postcodes are no different from Birkenhead on timing — once we are through the tunnel the extra miles are nothing.
What about my period-house curved rail — can you remove it cleanly?
Yes. Removing a curved rail cleanly in a period property is one of the specialist jobs we do routinely. We take the rail down in sections, lift the fixing points carefully so the stair treads are not damaged, and leave the staircase ready for a quick wood-filler finish if you want the fixing holes invisible. No scuffs on polished mahogany.
Which Wirral areas do you cover?
Every CH postcode: Birkenhead (CH41/42), Oxton/Prenton (CH43), Wallasey (CH44/45), Hoylake and West Kirby (CH47/48), Greasby and Upton (CH49), Heswall and Pensby (CH60/61), Bromborough and Bebington (CH62/63), Little Neston (CH64), and the Ellesmere Port borders (CH65/66). Full area list above.
Do you cover Ellesmere Port and Chester border?
Ellesmere Port yes (CH65/66) — it is on the natural Wirral route. Chester (CH1–CH4) is further afield and we discuss case-by-case — may be chargeable depending on the lift’s resale value and the distance. Phone Chris and he will tell you honestly if it stacks up.
Can you give written confirmation of the price?
Yes if you want it. Chris can text or email a short confirmation of the agreed price before collection day. Not required — a verbal agreement is enough — but written is yours for the asking.
What if I'm dealing with a probate on the Wirral?
Yes, we handle a lot of these across the Wirral. We can meet executors or solicitors at the property, work around estate agent viewings, provide a signed receipt made out to the estate, and plan collection around completion dates. Phone Chris to arrange timings.
