Our Reconditioned Curved Model

How Our Stannah 260 Curved Works — Honestly

A reconditioned curved stairlift is not the same as a reconditioned straight one — the rail is unique to every staircase and cannot be reused. Here is exactly how the three parts come together.

01
Step 01
Reconditioned Stannah carriage

The seat, motor, controls, batteries and safety gear come from a proven Stannah 260 unit — fully stripped, worn parts replaced, brand-new batteries fitted, safety-tested on our workshop rig. Same trusted Stannah engineering, thousands of pounds less than a brand-new lift.

02
Step 02
Brand-new custom rail

The rail is where every curved stairlift is unique. Yours is made new from scratch to fit your exact staircase — measured on the survey, fabricated by Stannah, delivered ready to fit. Custom rails cannot be reused between houses, which is why the rail is never reconditioned.

03
Step 03
Fitted by Chris personally

Once the rail arrives, Chris does the installation in one visit: rail up, carriage on, all safety systems tested, full ride from bottom to top and back, demonstration with the user until confident. No subcontractors, no rotating engineers, no travel charges anywhere we cover.

Why the Stannah 260

The Curved Lift We Trust Most

140+ years of British engineering
Stannah has been making lifts in Andover, Hampshire since 1867. The 260 is their long-established curved model — the one you see in most of the older curved installs across Merseyside.
The rail is British-made
Every custom rail is fabricated by Stannah in the UK, to your survey measurements. That is why the 2–4 week lead time is genuine and not padding.
Truly custom fit for your staircase
Straight, single-bend, double-bend, spiral, half-landing — a Stannah 260 rail is built to whatever shape your staircase actually is. No workarounds, no compromises.
Powered swivel seat at the top
The seat turns automatically at the top landing so you dismount facing away from the stairs — the safest way to get off any curved lift.
Battery-powered, works in a power cut
The 260 runs entirely on batteries with a trickle charger at each end. No power = no problem for the ride you are already on, and the next few after it.
12-month warranty from us
Same cover as if it were brand new. Parts, labour, and 24/7 breakdown response. Our own customers come first in the diary.

We are not a Stannah dealer — we are a Stannah 260 specialist. Dealers push new lifts and rentals because that is what the manufacturer pays them for. We recondition the trusted carriage, pair it with a brand-new custom rail, and fit it ourselves — because that combination gives Merseyside families a proper curved lift for the price of a new straight one.

Stannah Stairlifts — FAQs

How much is a reconditioned Stannah 260?

From £3,200 all-in fully installed. That includes the reconditioned carriage, a brand-new custom rail made for your exact staircase, delivery, fitting by Chris, safety testing, demonstration, and a full 12-month parts and labour warranty. Some more complex staircases (double bends, half-landings, particularly long runs) cost more — you get a fixed written price after your free home survey.

The full carriage: seat, motor, gearbox, controls, safety edge sensors, footrest, arms. Worn parts are replaced, brand-new batteries fitted, and the whole unit is rig-tested on our workshop staircase before it comes anywhere near your house.

No — and this is important. Curved rails are fabricated to fit one specific staircase and cannot be reused elsewhere. Your rail is made brand-new by Stannah in the UK to your survey measurements. That is why the 2–4 week lead time is genuine and not padding.

From survey to fitted lift: 2–4 weeks, driven almost entirely by rail manufacturing time. The install itself, once the rail arrives, is done in one visit — typically half a day. See our full timeline guide.

No — we are an independent specialist. That means no manufacturer targets pushing us toward new lifts or rentals. We recondition the carriage and pair it with a new custom rail because that is what gives our customers the best deal.

We specialise in the Stannah 260 curved stairlift — it is the model we know best, source consistently, and can recondition properly. Other Stannah models can be discussed at survey, but the 260 is our default recommendation for curved staircases.

12 months parts and labour, plus 24/7 breakdown support and no call-out charges within warranty. Our own customers come first in the diary — that is the diary rule, not marketing.

Yes — Stannah battery checks and general servicing on 260-series lifts, subject to diary space. Warranty customers always come first, but we do help other-brand owners regularly. See our stairlift servicing page.
