Stairlift Servicing Liverpool

Annual Servicing · Battery Health Checks · Warranty Customers First

A stairlift is a piece of daily-use machinery — it deserves the same routine care as your boiler or car. A.C. Stairlifts offers annual stairlift servicing across Liverpool, Sefton and Merseyside, focused on the models we know inside out: Acorn straight lifts, Brooks 130, and Stannah 260 battery checks. Our own warranty customers come first in the diary. Chris does servicing personally, on the same visit as the repair diagnosis if needed.

The Annual Service

What We Check on Every Visit

Eight checkpoints, no shortcuts. Every service takes 60–90 minutes on the day — and no, we are not one of those firms that pulls up, presses the button twice, and calls it a service.

01. Battery health test

Load-test the batteries under real motor load. If they are close to end-of-life, we tell you now — before the lift dies mid-flight.

02. Motor and gearbox inspection

Listen and feel for wear, check bearings, verify the drive train is running to spec. Report any concern in writing.

03. Safety sensor check

Every safety edge, every stop sensor, every fault light — tested by pressing/blocking each one, not just visually inspected.

04. Seat, arm and footrest

Fold mechanisms, seat swivel, arm hinges, footrest safety edge. If any part is stiff or loose we adjust or replace it.

05. Rail, wheels and gear-rack

Full length walk-down inspection. Any wheel wear, any rack tooth damage, any misalignment is flagged and photographed.

06. Controls and remote

Wall remotes, seat controls, chargers. Battery-swap the remotes if needed. Test the emergency slow-descent from the top and the bottom.

07. Full ride test

Multiple full-length runs from bottom to top and back. Any hesitation, any strange noise, and we investigate before we leave.

08. Written report

You get a written report of what was checked, what was adjusted, and any part we would recommend replacing before next service.

Why It Matters

Three Reasons Not to Skip It

It keeps your warranty valid

Any stairlift warranty — ours or another firm’s — can be voided by missed servicing. A short annual visit protects your investment for years.

It catches expensive problems early

A dying battery, a worn wheel, a stiff gearbox — caught early, they are all quick fixes. Left, they turn into breakdowns, callouts and replacement bills.

It keeps the user safe

A stairlift is machinery carrying an elderly or disabled person up a staircase. Safe operation is not optional and cannot be checked from a call centre.

Our own warranty customers come first — that is not marketing, it is the diary. If you did not buy your lift from us we will still help wherever we can, but our own families always take priority. That is how we can promise 24/7 breakdown response with a straight face.

Servicing FAQs

How often should a stairlift be serviced?

Once a year is the standard recommendation from every UK stairlift manufacturer — and it is what keeps most warranties valid. Heavy-use lifts (multiple daily trips by more than one person) may benefit from a 6-month service.

Battery load-test, motor and gearbox inspection, safety sensor check, seat/arm/footrest mechanics, rail/wheel/gear-rack walk-down, control test, full ride test, written report. 60–90 minutes on the day. See the checklist above for the full detail.

Depends on the model and whether you are a warranty customer. Warranty customers within their 12-month cover: no charge for annual service. After warranty: fixed price quoted on the phone, no call-out fee, no travel charge.

Yes — for the models we specialise in (Acorn straight, Brooks 130, Stannah 260 battery checks). Our own installs come first in the diary but we do help other-brand owners regularly across Liverpool.

If the load-test shows batteries at end-of-life, we tell you on the day and quote for a replacement set (typically fitted the same visit if we have your model in stock).

60–90 minutes for a standard annual service. Curved lifts and heavy-use installs may take longer. We book a two-hour slot and always finish on the day.

Everywhere we install: Liverpool, Sefton, Wirral, Knowsley, St Helens, Warrington, Wigan, Cheshire and West Lancashire. No travel charge anywhere we cover. See full map.

Yes — for warranty customers of ours. Call the same 0151 314 4884 number any hour of any day. Chris or someone from the family answers. No call centre, no third-party dispatch.
